Swirly #1 - Birthday greetings

One of the first things I look at when purchasing papercrafting products is their versatility. Over the next few weeks I'm going to be featuring projects using Stampin' Up!'s Swirly Bird stamp set and co-ordinating Swirly Scribbles thinlits bundle and will show you how very versatile this bundle is.

The first cards I'm sharing with you are birthday cards (or you can use them for other occasions too).  They feature the same basic design, but I've kept the smaller note card sized one as a single layer card but layered and embellished the standard sized card.

For the smaller, single layer birthday card, I started with a Stampin' Up! note card which comes with a co-ordinating envelope.  I stamped the large circle from the Stampin' Up! Swirly Bird set in Pink Pirourette ink and stamped the swirls over the top in Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The smaller circular swirls were stamped in Sweet Sugarplum and Pink Pirouette too.  I then stamped the two sizes of leaves also from the Swirly Bird stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink.  The stems of the leaves were then stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink too which results in a slightly darker shade than the leaves.  The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and was stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

The larger, standard sized card follows the same design as the smaller note card with the swirly flowers in the top left corner of the card.  This time I used a colour combination of Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy.  The swirly border at the bottom of the card was die-cut from the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  The Happy Birthday sentiment and label are both from the Rose Wonder stamp set and co-ordinating Rose Garden thinlits bundle.  I then layered the stamped card onto Peekaboo Peach card stock, Peekaboo Peach striped Designer Series Paper and a Whisper White card base.  A little Emerald Envy Ruched Ribbon bow completes the card.

The products used on these cards have been listed below - just click on the picture and it will take you to my online store where the product can be purchased.  Workshops and papercrafting classes are also available - please contact me for details.
